in addition to the standard minetest books, sorcery adds recipes and cookbooks. recipes are simply pieces of paper which display a crafting, enchanting, cooking, alchemy, or other recipe for a specific item or effect. cookbooks are collections of recipes which can be crafted from an empty book and any number of recipes.

recipes can occasionally be found in dungeon chests. you can also make them yourself if you're willing to destroy an item to learn how to create it; various devices can be used to determine the recipe; for instance, the Disassembly Kit can produce recipes for items created through crafting. however, you can also retrieve recipes for unknown items through use of divination.

you can keep inserting recipes into cookbooks using the crafting grid, but if you want to edit a cookbook, move recipes around, copy them out, cut them out, or erase them, you'll need a Writing Stand, ink, a pen, and various tools.

you can recycle old papers and books through the use of the Mill and Erasure Fluid. placing paper objects in the Mill will cause it to grind them down into pulp, which can then be soaked in Erasure Fluid to remove the ink. the clean pulp can then be pressed into sheets and cooked to produce paper again.

this method can also be used to make paper with a higher yield: by milling papyrus instead of crafting it directly into paper, you'll get enough pulp to make slightly more paper than you would have with papyrus alone.
