# cobalt
**cobalt** is a rare naturally occurring [metal](wiki:metals). it is not very durable, but is extraordinarily powerful, making tools that mine very quickly. it also has a very large energy reservoir, although it can only accept a single counterpraxic enchantment. cobalt has many magical and technological uses, and its powder can be used to produce blue [dye](wiki:dyes). it's also useful for making certain alloys. when used as a wand core, it grants a significant power-boost to the wand's spell.

cobalt ore can be found starting at 0.78km below the surface. it can only be mined with an [aluminum](wiki:aluminum) or stronger pickaxe.
